Alon Kleinnman was born and raised in Rehovot, Israel. Growing up, Alon and his twin brother Erez were talented basketball players and played on leading youth teams. Driven by a passion for physics and mathematics, Alon aspired to invent solutions that would make the world a better, greener place.
Alon’s Heroic Service
Alon was serving in the Israeli Defense Forces, in the MAGLAN Special Forces Unit, when Israel was attacked by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. He was part of one of the first teams to help civilians reach safety, saving tens of innocent lives that day in Kfar Azza following the deadly attack.
Erez, a fighter in the Special Forces Unit 669, fought for three long days before meeting Alon in Kibbutz Saad. When the brothers finally reunited, Erez said to Alon, “did you think we would go to war and we wouldn’t fight shoulder to shoulder?”
The brothers’ drive for excellence led them both to excel in their military service, prioritizing their love for Israel above all else.
Alon and Erez fought for months in Gaza on the front lines. Sadly, on February 11, 2024, Alon, along with his teammate Adi Aldor, were killed during an RPG attack on his team. They died while attempting to save a fellow soldier. Alon was only 21 years old. He is survived by his mother, Lilach, father, Guy, twin brother Erez and older sister Gal.
His family, friends, and Shir, his cherished partner of over six years, recall Alon as a humble man brimming with life, passion, and a spirit of adventure. He never failed to make the most out of every situation and was always known to be a reliable and trustworthy friend. May his memory be a blessing.

Parting Words from Alon’s Family
“Alon is our brother, son, friend, partner, an entire world. There aren’t enough words to summarize Alon…
We can write that he was a quiet leader who always put others before him, who was the sharpest in the room with a special determination and willpower that could move mountains. That his smile was the most radiant in the room, and that he did everything with humility – in a way that makes one envious of this trait.
But none of this could even begin to truly illustrate his character.
So, we would like to focus on the fact that he was so loved, and that he had the chance to love. Specifically on the fact that he chose to follow his own unique path and give his life for the country that he loved so much and for a people in whom he believed wholeheartedly.
It is important for us to spread Alon’s desire that we remain united, that we learn how to rise above our differences and never to forget that there is no other place like Israel – nor would we want to live anywhere else.”
